Hi Reader,
I still haven't decided.
Last week I told you I wanted to carry one slow thing into fall on purpose — I just didn't know yet what it would be. A week later, and I'm no closer to an answer, but I've at least started narrowing down the contenders.
Homeschool Thursdays where we don't overschedule the day — leaving room for the skatepark, getting our schoolwork done without forcing it, actually enjoying the day instead of just getting through it. Or a family game night, once a week, that doesn't get bumped for anything else.
Every option is good. That's actually the problem. It's easy to protect the one obviously right thing. It's much harder to choose between two good things and let the other one just... not happen, at least not on purpose, not with the same protection.
I think that's the part nobody warns you about. Protecting slow isn't really about carving out more time — there's rarely more time to find. It's about picking what gets the fierce, non-negotiable version of your attention, and being honest that everything else gets whatever's left over.
I don't have my answer yet. But I'm noticing that the choosing itself — actually sitting with it instead of letting default win by exhaustion — might be the practice, not just a delay before the real one starts.
Yours in still deciding,
P.S. — If narrowing down your own contenders feels hard too, Rhythm & Flow walks you through actually building the one you pick into a rhythm, instead of just hoping it sticks. It's $9.
